Curtains

I can create curtains with a choice of headings and linings. I can also customise the final look your of your curtains with a range of finishes.

Curtains can be made as simple unlined ones or fully lined. Which type is chosen will depend on the type of effect you want for a particular window. Unlined curtains, such as the semi-transparent voiles, can give a very light and airy feel to a room. Lined curtains cut out more light and they hang much better as there is more weight in the material. The lining also protects expensive curtain fabric from the bleaching effect of the Sun, making the curtains longer lasting. They also give much better heat insulation for the window that they are covering.

The heading of the curtain will also affect the overall look of the window. Simple pencil pleats and the slightly more decorative pinched pleats will look good on a normal curtain rail, whereas tab tops give a different look when hung from decorative curtain poles. All of these variations can, of course, be discussed and I have illustrations and in some cases samples for you to look at before you make any final decisions.

I can also make adjustments and repairs to existing curtains. Perhaps you have recently moved house and need your curtains adapted to fit new windows? Alternatively, you may have found a pair of curtains you like but find that they do not fit your window. I can help in these situations.

Fabric Blinds

I can produce Austrian, Roman and rolled blinds with your chosen fabric.

Fabric blinds are another option, instead of curtains. As with our curtains, I am able to create a blind with your chosen fabric to meet the look you require. A few years ago Austrian blinds were the favoured option. These days Roman or Rolled blinds are becoming more popular. I can advise you on the different styles.

Blinds can look very good on small windows or in situations where there is less room for curtains. They can be easily fitted on to a wooden batten without the need for a curtain rail.

Soft Furnishings

Some new cushions or a fitted bed cover, for example, will help to co-ordinate the fabrics in your room.

You may wish to co-ordinate your curtains with other furnishings in the room. Perhaps you would like a new bed cover? It could be fully fitted with piped edges or perhaps you would prefer a simple throw?

All of these soft furnishings could be made in the same fabric as the curtains or in a contrasting one. Finally, to complete the effect, what about some new cushions to compliment the other fabrics in the room?
